About Me

Hi! I’m Rachael. I’m a garment designer and embroidery artist based in beautiful San Francisco, California. I have been sewing for most of my life, initially learning from watching my mom create Halloween costumes for my brother and me. After sewing for a few different local theaters, I had learned to make all kinds of garments from corsets to swimwear to tuxedos and beyond. As I finished up my studies in drawing and painting, I began working for a major denim company. There, I learned a new medium that brought together my two loves, drawing and sewing, and I have been chainstitching ever since.

I really enjoy creating dramatic pieces through sewing and embroidery. Some of my influences for original work include horror, psychedelia, vintage fashion, retro lettering, and exotic animals.

My Values

Individuality and sustainability are the two values I prioritize most as a maker.

Each person’s closet is a reflection of multiple facets of their life. What would you like your clothes to say about you? It is important to me to support my clients in expressing their individuality, whether achieved by embroidering a quote or by altering those jeans to fit just right. Every design I create is intended to be stitched once or as part of a small batch with variations.

I believe in keeping clothing in rotation for as long as possible to reduce waste. Because of this, it is extremely important to me to create pieces with as high of quality and care as I can provide. I encourage everyone to increase the longevity of their clothes by having them repaired or reworked when needed, as opposed to tossing them.

Let’s be more intentional with the clothes we buy, how we wear them, and how we take care of them!
